A bit of history

• The University was founded in 1907 by entrepreneur Alexei VISHNYAKOV, they have 22 branches in Russia and abroad.

         They have 50 000 students whose 20 000 on the Moscow campus.

         They are specialized in economic and management.

         They emphasise on The necessity to train the professional staff : managers, economists,        commercial engineers that came with break-neck growth of industry and economy in the Russian Empire at the beginning of 20th century.

        The university was named after Georgi PELKHANOV whom was a Russian revolutionary and a Marxist theoretician. He was a founder of the social-democratic movement in Russia and was one of the first Russians to identify himself as "Marxist."

Campus facilities

SPORT: boxing and fitness facilities, game room for table tennis and badminton courts, billiard room and a fitness studio. In 2014 the construction of  recreation center and sports complex with a swimming pool has been ended. 

Sports club has 23 sections including capoeira, ice-hockey, cheerleading, rugby, yoga and others. The University ice hockey and cheerleading teams are  most powerful of all the student teams in Russia.

ART: The Cultural Center systematically works with students to arrange their leisure, develop their creativity, and enhance their sense of art. 

Great attention is paid to educating for respect for universal human values. An important part of its work is students’ involvement and training for participation in interuniversity, regional festivals and city events.  

There are creative groups and associations at the Center: Studio of classic vocal «Elegy» Pop vocal group PRUE Guitar Club Dance studio «Helikon» (choreography, jazz-modern, club dances, contemporary, and stage ensemble). Literary society Instrumental music club All lessons at artistic groups and associations at RC “Congress Center” are free.

Moscow Interuniversity Festival of Art Songs Artistic groups’ members participate in the performances at city celebrations and events as well as at traditional benefit concerts at different venues of Moscow.

• The university is located in the center of Moscow, half and hour walk from the Kremlin place. The exact location is: Stremyanny lane, 36, Moscow, 117997, Russia.

• The planing of classes for the year is : start of September, end of January and start of Febuary until the end of July.

• Plekhanov Russian University of Economics actively stands for healthy lifestyle. Since 2012 University is no smoking area.

• The two first week at the university are try out weeks where you can try all the classes and choose your favorite one those are not mandatory.

• classe hours are either from 8:30/15:30 or 10:00/17:00 and each classes last for 1h30.

• Exams are initially planned at each end of semester.
